The Home Depot Military Discount – What You Need to Know

When it comes to home improvement products and supplies for DIY projects, Home Depot is the go-to store for many shoppers. The great variety of items enables customers to find products to meet their various needs, while the store’s frequent deals and sales make it possible to shop even when on a tight budget.

From the retailer’s weekly ad to major Home Depot sales events, such as seasonal and holiday sales, there are different ways to maximize your savings when shopping at this retailer. Home Depot’s military discount is among them, and here is everything you need to know about this program and how to make the most of it.

What Is The Home Depot’s Military Discount

Home Depot’s Military Discount is the retailer’s way to honor those who have served and serve the country, providing those who qualify with the opportunity to save on their purchases.

However, the store’s commitment to show its appreciation for and support the military goes beyond that, as Home Depot also offers a variety of career options to service members and military spouses. What’s more, the company offers transferable careers for military spouses in more than 2000 U.S. locations, as well as opportunities and programs for transitioning military.

How to Benefit From The Home Depot’s Military Discount

To enjoy the military discount, you will have to sign up by visiting the e-store’s dedicated page or open the Home Depot mobile app. Once there, log in if you already have an account. If you don’t have an account, create one and then log in.

You will then have to verify your military status on the Military Discount page. Just select “Verify Military Status” and follow the instructions. If you complete each step, your verified military status will be visible on your personal Home Depot account.

The entire process usually takes a few minutes, and the retailer partners with SheerID to carry out this verification. You will be required to verify your military status only once – when you register your account – to benefit from savings at Home Depot.

In case you have issues enrolling, make sure to contact SheerID for assistance with the registration process and/or to get additional information on the documents required for verification.

Who Is Eligible For The Home Depot Military Discount

Veterans and serving members of the following branches of the US military are eligible for the retailer’s military discount:

  • Army
  • Navy
  • Air Force
  • Marine Corps
  • Coast Guard
  • Space Force
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
  • US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS)
  • National Guard

The current spouse of a service member who qualifies and is signed up for The Home Depot Military Discount is also eligible for the discount (this includes Gold Star spouses). Keep in mind that, in order to use the discount, qualified service personnel and eligible spouses must each have a unique personal account on the retailer’s website or app.

However, the discount is not available to registered service members’ dependents, dishonorably discharged veterans, or non-military personnel.

How Much You Can Save With The Home Depot’s Military Discount

The Military Discount offers 10% off certain in-stock purchases made by qualified customers. There is a limit, though, as this offer can be used for discounts of up to $400 each calendar year.

If you want to use the military discount online, simply log in to your Home Depot account on the retailer’s website, and it will be automatically applied to eligible products during the checkout process. If you want to use it in-store, just scan your Virtual ID at checkout, and the price on the eligible items will be automatically reduced.

The military discount doesn’t apply to all items, though. For example, it is not valid on select commodity products such as lumber, wire, and building materials, appliances, labor items, and gift cards. Also, select services and fees are excluded from the store’s military discount. Furthermore, it can’t be combined with previous purchases and other promotions. Make sure to visit the retailer’s dedicated page for further information on the program’s terms and conditions.
